Vitalograph Supports FRESH AIR Uganda

At the first-ever UN high-level meeting on non-communicable diseases in September 2011 global leaders recognised the need to tackle the rising burden of non-communicable diseases, including respiratory diseases.

In the wake of this ground-breaking meeting Vitalograph is delighted to support a new IPCRG (International Primary Care Respiratory Group) initiative designed to address the respiratory health needs of sub-Saharan communities who face a growing epidemic of COPD. Vitalograph respiratory devices will be used as part of the FRESH AIR Uganda study which aims to quantify the problem of respiratory disease in Uganda and test solutions relating to exposure to tobacco and indoor smoke.

This initiative, which started in mid-February 2012, aims to study 600 people aged 30+ in order to provide policy-makers with evidence of the impact of COPD on local communities and empower the implementation of culturally appropriate interventions to control COPD and its risk factors.
